This curriculum supports a smooth transition from EYFS into KS1 and KS2 through experiential, thematic learning informed by EQUALS, EHCP outcomes and the National Curriculum. Topics are sequenced to build curiosity, independence, communication and transferable knowledge through meaningful contexts.
Intent → Implementation → Impact
Intent: Topics build progressively across six terms and three years, linked to EQUALS pathways, PFA, careers and community learning.
Implementation: Experiential, sensory, practical and cross-curricular learning through themes, visits, role play, outdoor learning and explicit teaching.
Impact: Students develop communication, independence, problem solving and transferable skills evidenced through EFL, EHCP outcomes and curriculum assessment.
Curriculum Pathway Rationale
EYFS curriculum is followed through KS1 where appropriate, before transitioning into semi-formal learning through EQUALS due to natural overlap in communication, play, problem solving, independence and world knowledge.
