Bring the hospitality industry to life with this hospitality and catering version of the classic property trading board game. Students buy and run real types of hospitality provider, from a market food stall and school canteen up to a five star hotel and luxury spa resort. Along the way they deal with customer complaints, allergen labelling, hygiene inspections and the day to day costs of running a business.

Perfect for KS3 Food and Nutrition and the WJEC Level 1/2 Vocational Award in Hospitality and Catering. Use it as an engaging end of unit activity, a revision lesson, or a reward lesson with real learning built in.

What鈥檚 included

  • A pre-made 50 cm 脳 50 cm game board, ready to print
  • Printable play money
  • 28 title deed cards: 22 hospitality providers, 4 Michelin starred restaurants and 2 pieces of kitchen equipment
  • 16 Chef鈥檚 Special cards and 16 Customer Feedback cards, with matching card backs
  • 16 Re-inspection cards with food safety questions and answers
  • Full game rules, adapted for hospitality and catering
  • A Quick Game mode with lesson timings, designed to fit a 1 hour lesson
  • Plenary discussion questions
  • Step by step printing instructions for the board and cards

Key learning links

  • Types of hospitality provider: commercial and non-commercial, residential and non-residential
  • Food safety: temperature control, the danger zone, cross-contamination and food poisoning bacteria
  • The role of the Environmental Health Officer and the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme
  • Customer service, customer feedback and business costs

A food safety twist
Instead of going to jail, students who fail a hygiene inspection are Closed by Environmental Health. To reopen, they can answer a Re-inspection question correctly, turning a classic game rule into quick retrieval practice.

Fully editable
All cards, rules and instructions are fully editable in PowerPoint, so you can change names, prices and wording to suit your class. There鈥檚 no branding throughout.

Please note
You will need to provide your own dice, playing pieces and houses and hotels (used as Kitchen Upgrades and 5 Star Hygiene Ratings). These can be taken from existing property trading game sets or bought cheaply online, for example from Amazon.
