Make the day predictable and calm. A complete set of first & then boards, now/next/then boards, choice boards, a star reward board and 16 ready-to-cut picture cards — all in one gentle, low-arousal visual pack.

The First & Then Pack helps SEN, ASN and autistic pupils understand what is happening now and what comes next. Built with SEN pupils in mind — large text, high contrast, one idea per visual and plenty of calm white space — it turns transitions and demands into two simple, reassuring steps.

WHO IT’S FOR
Ideal for autism and ASN provision, SEMH and nurture rooms, ELSA and pastoral work, speech and language and structured teaching, 1:1 and small-group support, and any EYFS to KS2 classroom that uses visual routines. Person-first, supportive language throughout — no “good” or “bad” framing.

WHAT’S INSIDE (14 pages)
• A one-page teacher guide to setting up and using first & then boards
• A large first & then board (place a card in each box)
• Pupil first & then boards — two smaller boards per page with cut guides
• A now, next, then board for longer parts of the day
• A first & then + reward board
• Two choice boards — a six-box and a large four-box “I can choose one”
• 16 picture cards with cut guides: reading, writing, maths, drawing, tablet, snack, play, tidy up, bubbles, music, outside time, sensory, computer, puzzle, sticker, all finished
• A “first work, then reward” board with a five-star token strip and reward choices
• Star and “all finished” cards
• Blank editable cards to add your own tasks and rewards

HOW TO USE IT
Print and laminate the boards, add hook-and-loop dots, and keep the picture cards on a ring so a child can choose and place their own. Say it simply — “first writing, then tablet” — and move the cards across as each step is completed so the child sees the promise kept. Build up from two steps to now/next/then and the reward board as confidence grows.

PRINTING TIPS
A4, print at 100% (actual size). Card and lamination make everything hard-wearing and reusable. Undated. UK spelling throughout.

Also by this author: pair this with my Calm Corner Kit and Now & Next Board — same friendly visual style, designed to work together across your SEN provision.
