Need structured Higher-tier revision that pupils can complete independently during the run-up to GCSE exams? This Year 11 Higher Support Exam Season booklet provides 12 short, high-yield assignments: 11 focused homeworks plus a cumulative Mastery Checkpoint.

Booklet 5 revises surds and indices; quadratics and sequences; simultaneous equations and iteration; cones, spheres, frustums and circle theorems; proportion, growth and reverse percentages; grouped data, cumulative frequency, histograms and scatter graphs; transformations, vectors, proof and inequalities.

Each homework takes approximately 30 minutes and is designed for answers to be completed in an exercise book, on paper or digitally. The Support edition reduces cognitive load through concise key-fact toolkits, worked structures, LOOK HERE, PLAN and WAY IN prompts, reflection starters and vocabulary support—without removing Higher-tier reasoning.

The consistent six-part routine combines:
IGNITE — interleaved retrieval with visible spacing tags
BUILD — current methods and deliberate variation
DETECT — commonly examiner-identified misconceptions
PERFORM — GCSE-style application with calculator guidance
STRETCH — non-routine reasoning, proof and depth
REFLECT — brief metacognitive review

The programme is informed by recurring issues identified in GCSE examiner commentary and assessment guidance. Retrieval is planned across previously taught content, while answer warnings target errors such as mishandled fractional indices, quadratic inequalities, frequency density, cumulative frequency, transformations and vector proof.
