In this activity, students will examine the life and reign of Tiberius, the second emperor of Rome, from his difficult early years in exile through to his eventual confirmation as Augustus’ heir in AD 14. They will explore how personal loss and the actions of Sejanus during Tiberius’ retirement on Capri contributed to a reign that left Rome with unresolved questions about the balance of power between the emperor and the Senate.

It has 10 questions for students to answer, as well as a paragraph response section for them to demonstrate their understanding of the topic.
