This 20-lesson Gothic scheme of work develops English writing skills for KS3 and EAL students, supported by a revision guide and an online end-of-unit test. Originally designed for UK secondary schools, it has also proved highly effective in international classrooms thanks to its engaging content, wide-ranging differentiation, and focus on building core literacy skills. Students explore gothic stories, sentence structures, poetic and persuasive techniques, character creation, pathetic fallacy, similes, metaphors, and extended writing. The unit culminates in the creation of a gothic story, gothic poetry, and a film review, supported throughout by homework grids and assessment preparation.
