This resource provides a complete 10-hour ASDAN History Short Course project designed to support delivery of Module 5B2. Learners explore how historical figures, major events, and shared European values are represented through currency design, before producing a justified creative outcome and taking part in a formal presentation. Across the project, students investigate historical significance, legacy, representation, and perspective, applying these concepts to real-world decision-making. The final outcome provides clear, assessable evidence suitable for inclusion in an ASDAN History portfolio.

What Students Will Do
In this project, students will explore the historical purpose of money and how banknotes reflect values and identity; investigate shared European values such as democracy, peace, culture, and scientific progress; research influential European figures and major historical events; evaluate issues of representation, inclusivity, and historical perspective; select five historically justified themes for new European banknotes; design a full series of banknotes (5, 10, 20, 50, 100) applying professional design principles; explain and justify security features used to prevent counterfeiting; prepare and deliver a mock pitch to a “Central European Bank” panel; and evaluate their own work and reflect on skills developed.

Skills Developed
Historical enquiry and research; understanding historical significance, legacy, and perspective; critical thinking and justified decision-making; creative design and visual communication; spoken communication and presentation skills; teamwork, collaboration, and peer assessment; reflection and self-evaluation.

What’s Included
Full lesson PowerPoints for 10 one-hour lessons; a complete printable student workpack (evidence-focused and SEND-friendly); research, design, justification, and evaluation worksheets; structured pitch planning and peer-assessment materials; clear teacher guidance embedded through lesson sequencing; and consistent assessment opportunities suitable for ASDAN moderation.

ASDAN History Short Course Bundle – 3 Project-Based Modules (5B3, 3B5, 2B2) – KS3/KS4

This bundle provides a ready-to-teach, project-based pathway for the ASDAN History Short Course, bringing together three creative short course modules (5B3, 3B5, and 2B2). Each module is designed to actively engage learners through investigation, discussion, design, and evaluation, while generating clear evidence for the ASDAN portfolio. When delivered together and assessed in line with ASDAN requirements, the three projects support the accumulation of three credits, leading to Silver level. **Purchasing the bundle offers a saving of approximately 20% compared to buying each short course separately.** Rather than worksheet-only tasks, learners take part in structured historical projects that encourage curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. Students analyse historical interpretations, explore significance and representation, and apply their understanding to meaningful outcomes such as design work, presentations, and reflective evaluations. Each project is self-contained but builds naturally into a coherent learning pathway. What Students Will Do Across the three projects, learners will research historical figures and events, analyse sources and viewpoints, make justified decisions using evidence, produce creative historical outcomes, present their ideas formally, and evaluate both their work and their contribution to group tasks. Each short course concludes with a clear, assessable outcome suitable for ASDAN moderation. Skills Developed Historical enquiry and interpretation; understanding of significance, perspective, and representation; critical thinking and justification; creative communication and presentation skills; teamwork and collaboration; self-reflection and evaluation.
