For Anti Bullying Week 2026, the Sophie Lancaster Foundation has created a free lesson for secondary schools, designed to open safe, age appropriate conversations about kindness, respect and speaking up for others.

Built around the theme “Break the Silence”, these resources help learners explore how staying quiet can allow unkind behaviour to grow and how small, safe actions can make a big difference. Through simple creative tasks, discussion prompts and reflective activities, students consider what stops people from speaking up, how to support someone who is being left out and why using their voice matters.

For Key Stages 3/4 - the pack introduces Sophie’s story in a gentle, age appropriate way, offering a real world example that helps students understand the importance of inclusion, empathy and challenging harmful behaviour early.

Teachers can use the ready to go PowerPoint lesson within PSHE, Citizenship or Anti Bullying Week activities.

Who is the Sophie Lancaster Foundation?

Sophie Lancaster was killed for the way she looked. Her alternative subculture identity, the only motivation for the brutal, targeted attack. Sophie’s mother, Sylvia established the Foundation in Sophie’s name, to challenge prejudice and intolerance through education and change mindset to difference.
