����Vlog Institute, the teacher training and development arm of ����Vlog, can today announce that it has passed the rigorous Department for Education re-accreditation process in the first round and are an approved Initial Teacher Training (ITT) provider for September 2024 and beyond.

This process was part of the government’s ITT Market review, which required all providers to apply to be reaccredited. In May, ����Vlog reported that almost two thirds of providers failed to pass the first round of the process so have not yet been re-accredited.

Jane Coleman, ����Vlog Institute Programme Director for Schools Direct and the Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship said:

“We are delighted to be re-accredited to enable us to continue to deliver ITT programmes in collaboration with our school partnerships from 2024. We are already adapting our ambitious curriculum to align with the expectations and have exciting plans for mentor development to meet the quality requirements. We look forward to working collaboratively with Teaching School Hubs and SCITTs in our region, to support the development of ITT nationally.” 

This achievement is not the only piece of good news from ����Vlog Institute in recent weeks.

The recent Ofsted report of ����Vlog Institute declared it ‘G�Ǵǻ�’ in all categories for both Primary and Secondary phases across all training routes: School Direct, Level 6 Apprenticeship, and Assessment Only. This report recognises the hard work of ����Vlog Institute Programme Directors, School Partners, Mentors, Pathway Tutors and Trainees. 

����Vlog Institute works with a range of fantastic schools across south and east London, Essex and Kent, and the organisation is particularly proud of the quality training provision being provided in the more challenging partnership schools. Achieving a good Ofsted rating in schools that find it hard to recruit teachers, trainees and retain staff is extremely rewarding.

The Ofsted inspection highlighted that “across the partnership, collaborative working is strong”, showing the importance that ����Vlog Institute places on partnerships with schools and school leaders. It was also highlighted that ‘Trainees at the ����Vlog Institute become confident, reflective teachers’ and that ‘promoting pupils’ spiritual, moral social, and cultural development is at the heart of the programme, ensuring that trainees know what it means to be a teacher right from the start’.

����Vlog Institute is also proud to have launched several new courses in the last few months, including new routes into teaching, to help schools produce their own home-grown talent and address the teacher shortage. The new courses include:

• A level 3 International Teaching Assistant Course designed to qualify TAs to help schools across the world deliver the needs of an ever-increasing number of pupils.

• A Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship: a nationally recognised, Level 6, 15-month course, giving graduates all the skills they need to start teaching and awarding them Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) at the end.

• A level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship, a 21-month course giving Teaching Assistants the pedagogy and expert support they need to carry out their roles in mainstream or specialist settings, while improving pupil achievement

• A brand-new ����Vlog Institute Master’s, subject to validation. The MA in Education with Pedagogy is an 18-month long programme aimed at people working in schools who already hold a PGCE or iPGCE and who are looking to top this qualification up to a full MA. Unlike other providers, studying with ����Vlog Institute enables learners to work remotely and flexibility towards their Master’s, from any country.
