Plato’s allegory of the cave (Republic, Book VII) is the hook for the TOK core theme. Students first live the epistemic problem (guessing objects from shadows), then turn the allegory on themselves (mapping the ‘cave’ of their own knowledge sources), debate what knowers owe each other, and finish by drafting knowledge questions with the framework. The exit ticket and Part 5 questions feed directly into exhibition or essay preparation.
