There’s more to space than eight planets. Solar System & Beyond is a 30-page KS1 colouring and activity pack (ages 5 to 7). Children start with the Sun and all eight planets, then meet the five dwarf planets recognised by the IAU (Pluto, Ceres, Eris, Haumea and Makemake). From there they move on to comets, rockets, the International Space Station and three real space explorers.

Every colouring page pairs a picture with one short ‘Did you know?’ fact, checked against NASA, ESA, the Royal Astronomical Society and other trusted sources. A ‘Beyond the 8 Planets’ page explains in simple words what a dwarf planet is, without ever claiming there are more than eight planets.

CURRICULUM LINKS
The explorer pages (Neil Armstrong, 1969; Helen Sharman, 1991; Tim Peake, 2015) support the KS1 History programme of study: the lives of significant individuals, and events beyond living memory. Together they make a ready-made timeline children can put in order. The planet pages are enrichment; space is taught in more depth in Year 5 science.
