A free homework resource designed to support teaching on Church and State under the Tudors for Edexcel A-Level History: Rebellion and Disorder under the Tudors.

This resource is intended to be used before the first lesson on Church and State (Lesson 3) and helps students build a secure understanding of the position of the Catholic Church in England before 1529. The information sheet introduces students to the many ways in which the Church shaped everyday life, including beliefs about salvation, worship, holy days, birth and death, charity, education, moral control, and community life.

The worksheet then asks students to reflect on how far the Church was at the centre of everyday life before 1529, making it a useful preparation task for later lessons on the Great Matter, the break with Rome, and changing Church-State relations.
