A complete Ready, Steady, Write! poetry-inspired writing resource based around Now We Are Six.

Children explore the structure of the poem before reflecting on the things they learn and experience as they grow. The slides gradually work through ages one to six before supporting children to have a go at creating their own poem.

Alongside the presentation, slide-by-slide teacher delivery notes provide discussion prompts and suggested ideas for each age, including early speech, learning to walk, starting school, friendships, reading and writing.

Includes:

  • 10-slide teaching presentation
  • Teacher delivery notes
  • Discussion prompts
  • Scaffolded poetry-writing activities
  • Ideas to support rhyme and vocabulary development

A lovely writing activity for encouraging children to think about growing up, memories, milestones and their own experiences while developing confidence with poetry.

Ideal for: KS1, poetry units, creative writing days and cross-curricular PSHE/English work.
