Students examine how much progress was made in Medieval surgery between c.1000 to c.1500. They will focus on the role of warfare, religion and key individuals such as John of Arderne, Hugh and Theodoric of Lucca and Abulcasis. Students will also investigate the techniques used in Medieval surgery such as bloodletting, trepanning, amputation and cauterisation.

This is a fully resourced lesson which includes a printable fact sheet based on the GCSE AQA specification as well as worksheets, discussion tasks, engaging background information, warm up tasks and learning reviews.
