This White Fang KS3 Mini Booklet is a fully scaffolded KS3 English reading, analysis and creative-writing mini booklet based on an engaging extract from White Fang by Jack London.

Designed for mixed-ability Year 8 classes, this resource develops key skills linked to AQA GCSE English Language Paper 1. Clear, step-by-step instructions, writing frames, vocabulary support and model examples make the booklet accessible to lower-attaining, SEN and EAL learners, while extension activities provide stretch and challenge.

It includes:

• Context, prediction and critical-thinking activities
• Dictionary, vocabulary and synonyms work
• Retrieval, comprehension and inference questions
• Language analysis of character and tension
• A step-by-step tension graph and structure activity
• Evaluation of White Fang as a hero, threat or victim
• Quotations, sentence starters, writing frames and word banks
• A suspense-based creative-writing task
• Drawing and visual-response activities
• Extension challenges and student self-assessment
• Skills linked to AQA English Language Paper 1 Questions 1-5 (Adaptable to otherr exam boards))

The carefully sequenced activities guide students from retrieval and inference through to language analysis, structure, evaluation and creative writing. The booklet is suitable for teacher modelling on an interactive whiteboard as well as independent completion in a printed booklet.

Although mapped to AQA GCSE English Language Paper 1, the reading and writing skills are transferable across most GCSE English Language specifications. Teachers using other exam boards can easily adapt the question wording, mark allocations or response frameworks to suit their specification.
This resource is ideal for classroom teaching, guided practice, independent study, homework, intervention, cover lessons or stretch and challenge.

No preparation required. Just print and teach!
Available in PDF and editable PowerPoint formats (PDF & Powerpoint are A4 in size)
