Description:
This print-and-teach Grade 9 ELA Unit 2 (Week 8) moves students from single analytical paragraphs to full literary analysis essays using a short story. Students reread closely for literary elements, respond to text-dependent questions, and develop a structured essay with a clear claim, strong evidence, and thoughtful commentary.

Students synthesize everything learned in Unit 2—setting, mood, character, theme, and author’s craft—into a polished, rubric-based piece of writing. Through drafting, revising, discussion, and reflection on teacher feedback, students turn assessment into meaningful growth, building confidence in academic writing, evidence-based thinking, and literary analysis at the essay level.
