A clear, child-friendly assembly presentation pack to introduce pupils to democracy, voting, fairness, listening and pupil voice. These slides are designed to support whole-school or key stage assemblies linked to British Values, school councils, pupil parliament, pupil leadership, kindness, wellbeing and school improvement.

This resource includes two separate assembly slide decks: one aimed at Key Stage 1 and one aimed at Key Stage 2. Both presentations introduce the meaning of democracy, explain voting in simple language, include a quick interactive vote, and provide discussion questions linked to the book Everyone Gets a Say by Jill Twiss. The KS2 version also includes deeper thinking questions around loud voices, quiet voices, fairness and why every voice matters.

The slides also include reflection points about how pupil voice can be used in school, including links to Pupil Parliament, kindness and positive wellbeing, safety and school rules, and making school better for the future.

Important note: These lesson/assembly slides are intended to be used alongside the book Everyone Gets a Say by Jill Twiss. The book is not included with this resource and must be purchased separately. This resource does not contain or reproduce the full text of the book.
