El médico gratis: Doctor and patient advice practice (Spanish)

GREAT for speaking practice or assessment, classwork, assessment, homework, or sub plans

Marcos Gómez is a doctor in his town. Every Friday morning, he has a one-hour free session where anyone in the town can send him a message on group chat asking for advice on their health issues. For confidentiality purposes, patients list themselves by a number instead of using their real names.

Your task: For each patient’s health issue, offer advice by using an infinitive (-ar, -er, -ir) phrase and add details, as needed.

*25 patient issues total

*A word bank with helpful words is included if students want to use it.

Sample:

El chat grupal con médico Marcos Gómez

Paciente 1: Yo estornudo mucho y creo que tengo alergia al polen.

Médico: Ud. tiene que __________________________________________________

Paciente 2: Yo tengo la tensión alta.

Médico: Ud. necesita __________________________________________________

Paciente 3: Yo tengo diabetes y esta mañana mi nivel de azúcar bajó.

Médico: Ud. debe____________________________________________

Note: For respsonses, they will start with “Ud. tiene que”, “Ud. necesita”, and “Ud. _____debe”.

On pages 4-6, a second set of the same 25 patient issues is included but without

“Ud. tiene que”, “Ud. necesita”, and “Ud. _____debe”. Students can come up with their own answers and use the phrases “Ud. tiene que” etc in any order.
