This lesson and the resources which go with it are designed to do an astute analytical comparison of the US and UK Supreme Courts which will help students to prepare and write 12 mark questions.

This is the final lesson in my Supreme Court topic for the Edexcel Politics ALevel comparative government US and UK (3A- Topic 5)

Includes a detailed powerpoint with different activities including a colour code to distinguish features of SCOTUS./ SCOTUK or both

Also notes which can be printed out and given to students to work independently.

Personally I like to give the colourcode as a starter/ revision activity then go through the correct answers- then get students to use this and the comparative document to fill in as much of their A3 grid as they can (I print it A3 AND double sided as there is a lot to write in some areas). Then we go through the slides as a class to add notes in all areas before setting them the Comparative 12 mark Questions.

This usually takes me a 2 hour lesson (double) but can be split into 2 one hours.

Also includes practice 30 mark essays on key debates on the SCOTUS for students to plan blank versions and some partially modelled
