We hope these guide series help you plan your review/revision work. These are concise and precisely aligned with the updated syllabus. Many teachers have collaborated in making of these guides. If they are useful in your teaching, please consider leaving a review. It would truly be helpful for us to improve on the process of making. You can also explore other guides at the store.

Here’s the reality of A Level History. Four papers. Four completely different skill sets. Paper 1 demands source analysis. Paper 2 requires essay writing without sources. Paper 3 tests interpretations of historians. Paper 4 needs depth study mastery. Students who excel at one can struggle with another. This bundle covers the entire qualification. Four complete master guides – one for each paper of Cambridge 9489 History. Paper 1 (Historical Sources), Paper 2 (Outline Study), Paper 3 (Historical Interpretations), and Paper 4 (Depth Study). Buy the bundle and save.

Paper 1 – Historical Sources (1hr 15min, 40 marks, 20% of A Level, 40% of AS): One two-part question. Part (a) 15 marks – compare two sources for similarities AND differences using provenance (author, date, purpose). Part (b) 25 marks – use all four sources + knowledge to evaluate ‘how far’ a statement is supported. AO3 (sources) = 75% of marks. OPCVL framework. Worked examples with examiner commentary.

Paper 2 – Outline Study (1hr 45min, 60 marks, 30% of A Level, 60% of AS): Two two-part questions from two prescribed topics. Part (a) 10 marks – ‘Explain why’ with 3 causal factors + mechanism + evidence. Part (b) 20 marks – ‘How far / To what extent’ with balanced argument, alternative perspectives, and explicit judgement. Topic rotation for 2027, 2028, 2029 (European/American/International options).

Paper 3 – Historical Interpretations (1hr 15min, 40 marks, 20% of A Level): One two-part question on interpretations of a historical issue. Part (a) 15 marks – compare two extracts for how and why they differ. Part (b) 25 marks – evaluate which interpretation is more convincing using own knowledge. Historiography. Engaging with historians as active arguers, not just names to drop.

Paper 4 – Depth Study (1hr 45min, 60 marks, 30% of A Level): Two essays from a choice of four on your chosen depth study. 45 minutes per essay. 25+ marks each. Structure: introduction with argument, 4–5 analytical paragraphs, conclusion with explicit judgement. Precision evidence (dates, names, statistics) essential. Depth over breadth.

Everything follows the Cambridge 9489 syllabus for 2027–2029. No fluff. Just what earns marks in the exam.

What’s included:
Topic rotation schedules for all papers (2027–2029), OPCVL source analysis framework, Part (a) causal factor formula (3 factors + mechanism + evidence), Part (b) essay structure templates (introduction → 3 body paragraphs → conclusion), historiography guidance (how to evaluate historians, not just cite them), worked examples with examiner commentary for all four papers, 20 most-frequently tested concepts per paper, 6-week revision plans.

I LOVE this bundle, clear and concise. The exam paper breakdown of what is required is excellent. You cannot teach without this resource at your side. I have over 25 years of teaching experience, and this resource is a game-changer. I would have benefitted from this History bundle as a young, new teacher. I would have avoided many mistakes along the way. Thank you!
