Remember Battle of Britain Day on 15 September with this thoughtful, ready-to-deliver whole-school assembly for primary schools.

This assembly introduces pupils to the Battle of Britain and its place in British history, while taking a sensitive approach that focuses not on celebrating war, but on remembering bravery, teamwork, community and peace.

Pupils discover that bravery was not limited to RAF pilots. They explore the important roles played by families, children, engineers, medics, teachers and neighbours, and consider how ordinary people helped one another during a difficult time.

Through the story of Mia, a child living in England in 1940, pupils explore how courage can be shown through small acts of kindness, helping others and staying calm when things are difficult.

The presentation includes an interactive “Bravery can be quiet too” activity, audience questions and a reflection encouraging pupils to consider how they can show courage, teamwork and kindness in their own lives.
