This three-lesson pack develops students’ understanding of different types of markets and the use of marketing data.

Lesson 18 introduces B2B, B2C and C2C markets, exploring how buying behaviour and marketing approaches differ between business and consumer markets. Students investigate the rapid growth of C2C platforms such as Vinted and Depop before applying their knowledge to a 15-mark evaluation question on ASOS, considering whether it should focus on its established B2C model or respond to the growth of resale markets.

Lessons 19–20 then focus on analysing marketing data and using quantitative information to support business decisions. Students explore market size (including segments), market and sales growth, market share, sales volume and value, correlation and index numbers. The lessons also introduce Return on Marketing Spend (ROMS), including calculations, interpretation, benefits and limitations. Students consolidate their quantitative skills through a Xiaomi smartphone data challenge, calculating market growth, sales growth, market share, ROMS and sales volume growth, before applying their understanding to a 9-mark assess question on Xiaomi’s marketing spending.

Includes:

  • Engaging starters, retrieval & mini-whiteboard activities
  • B2B, B2C & C2C markets with real business examples
