This 2D Shape Fine Motor Control resource includes 10 worksheets designed to help children develop their fine motor skills, pencil control and hand-eye coordination while exploring and recognising 2D shapes. The shapes include a square, circle, triangle, rectangle, heart, oval, pentagon, octagon, hexagon and cross. Each worksheet features a series of shapes within shapes, with dotted outlines for children to carefully trace around, helping to develop pencil grip, controlled hand movements, accuracy and concentration. As children follow the lines, they practise changing direction, following curves, navigating corners and controlling their pencil movements, all of which support early writing skills. Colourful examples are provided on each page to encourage children to follow the colour patterns before colouring in their own shapes, further strengthening fine motor control, visual tracking and spatial awareness. This resource also provides opportunities to develop 2D shape recognition, mathematical vocabulary, colour recognition and understanding of shape properties. Ideal for EYFS, KS1 and SEND learners, these worksheets can be used during maths activities, fine motor interventions, independent learning or as part of continuous provision. You could also laminate and add to your maths or writing corner.
