What Do New Ideas and Opportunities Happen?
A PowerPoint that looks at the purpose of business and why they exist: what is the purpose of business. This resource explores entrepreneurs and the impact they have. It explores enterprise and what makes successful entrepreneurs. On that journey it looks at the wealth of entrepreneurs, their personality traits and how new opportunities for entrepreneurs arise; new technology, changing societal tastes and new production techniques. IT also introduces (pre-teaches) exchange rates for the first time.
As always, I colour code the key words to facilitate greater learning from students of abilities; an issue with option subjects having a vast array of abilities. The way the PPT’s are written ensures lower ability pupils can take away core knowledge and not be overwhelmed, whilst ensuring there is enough depth to reach those higher grades.

Who is it aimed at?
Edexcel GCSE Business 9-1 (1BS0)

What does it include?
A 54 slide PowerPoint with plenary questions. A worksheet for retrieval and recall.
The worksheet can be used in subsequent lessons to retrieve and recap previous knowledge, or as a means to understand which content needs to be re-taught when completed as a separate task.

How do I use it?
Lots of checking for understanding all the way through, especially on any new vocabulary they may not have come across before – the ones highlighted in colour. Participation through questioning and targeted questions so all students can take part.
