The Converting Units Festive Reasoning Challenge has Year 6 pupils follow Theodore as he prepares for Christmouse. It includes a variety of converting units reasoning questions, helping students to develop problem-solving skills beyond simple step-by-step understanding. This Christmas lesson is a great way to round up converting units before breaking for the holidays.

The PowerPoint contains 16 slides of reasoning questions which can be posed to the whole class, discussed in small groups or practiced independently. It could be completed during a single lesson depending on your class鈥檚 ability and lesson length, or covered across a couple lessons. Another option would be to use them as starters in the lead up to the Christmas break.

There is a matching 7-page workbook of identical questions for students to work through as independent practice or to follow along with the PowerPoint slides.

The accompanying workbook is available in two formats: a full-colour version to match the PowerPoint presentation and a black-and-white, reduced-ink version for economical printing.

Full answers with suggested methods are included.
