This PowerPoint resource introduces a selection of the countries taking part in the 2026 FIFA World Cup and is suitable for both KS2 and KS3 learners of French.

Students first learn many of the European countries before moving on to countries from other continents. The resource includes a variety of engaging activities and games to practise and reinforce vocabulary, including selection activities, guessing games, What’s Missing? and noughts and crosses.

The presentation also covers the use of en, au and aux with countries and provides opportunities to practise speaking about where you live, where you are going, which team you support and who you think will win the World Cup. Interactive speaking activities include Mastermind, Trapdoor and dice games.

The resource is highly adaptable. It can also be used to revise colours through national flags, while the noughts and crosses activities can be differentiated for a range of ability levels, from simply naming countries to producing full sentences. With minor adaptations, the resource could also be used for teaching other languages.
