I created this resource for teaching the students about variables. There are 30 cards which different topics (growing a plant, using a magnet, making slime etc).

The students must think of different variables that might impact the topic. There are another 30 cards with 15 suggestions, in case they find it difficult to think.

I will then use these cards to pick independent variables, discuss dependent variables and control variables and then support them in creating experiments.

I made them for a class of year 5 and 6 in a Montessori setting, but they would be suitable as any KS2 class lesson.
