This KS3 history lesson examines the impact of the British Empire in Kenya, asking: Did the Empire bring progress for everyone? Students will explore Kenya before colonisation, the arrival of the British East Africa Protectorate in 1895, and trade with European settlers.
Learners will evaluate whether British influence created “progress for some or progress for all.” Finally, they will consider resistance movements, the Mau Mau rebellion, and the road to independence in 1963.
