A lesson designed as a brief introduction to the unit (while the majority of students are on TAFE). It includes some context for the unit. Two key terms are explained (digital technologies and online wellbeing). There is a brief overview of the key learnings that will take place and what the assessment type is (information booklet). Information about how they will be graded (developed product and documented process).

Discussion questions:
How can visuals like posters and ads help shape community understanding of e Safety issues?
What language / visual features can you use to impact your audience?
Looking at tips from the Safer Internet Website

Followed by a research task. Students have 5 prompts on the slide that they must find the answer to. They then display what they have learned as a poster.

Resources designed for the new senior Social and Community Studies syllabus (implemented in QLD in 2024). Topic: Digital Citizenship. The end of term assessment for this unit was a product (Information Booklet / Pamphlet / Brochure).

The content would also be useful more broadly for students in other states and countries with an interest in online safety. Additional resources for this unit are also available in my store – Aussie_Resources.
