In this lesson, students will work towards the objective: To explain the movement of the Moon.

They will learn about the Moon’s Lunar Cycle and how this links to its orbit around the Earth. They will be given detailed explanations for each phase as well as what the surface of the Moon looks like as a map. They will then match up descriptions with each phase and will create their own Lunar Cycles using potato prints.

The engaging presentation- with links to online video clips and an activity sheet are all provided. A knowledge organiser for Earth & Space is also included.

This lesson is intended for Year 5 students but can easily be modified for all KS2 and KS3 students.
