Explore Rosh Hashanah from 22–24 September with this engaging, respectful whole-school assembly for primary schools.

This assembly introduces pupils to Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, and explores its themes of hope, reflection and fresh starts. Pupils consider how Jewish people may use this time to think about the year that has passed, what they have learned and how they would like to improve.

The presentation explores important ideas including reflection, saying sorry, making a fresh start and beginning again with kindness and hope. Pupils also learn about traditional elements associated with Rosh Hashanah, including apples dipped in honey and the shofar.

Through the story of Maya, a Year 4 pupil starting a new school term, children see how the idea of a fresh start can connect with their own learning, friendships and choices.

The presentation includes a quiet reflection activity, partner discussion, audience questions and a practical challenge encouraging pupils to choose one small thing they can do to make a fresh start.
