An engaging, fully resourced three-lesson task in which students take on the role of an Events Administrator planning a community summer festival. Designed for KS3 Admin & IT in England and Wales and CFE S1–S3 in Scotland, this applied project combines document production, formal communication and design skills in a fun, real-world context. It is ideal for the end of the summer term, transition projects or as an extended applied task, and requires no additional preparation.
What is included:

14-slide PowerPoint presentation guiding students through all three lessons, including the scenario, the festival brief, step-by-step task guidance and an example poster to model
Teacher guide and unit plan with learning objectives, a lesson-by-lesson breakdown, curriculum mapping for both CFE and KS3, and differentiation strategies
Student task booklet containing the scenario, brief and all six tasks with built-in tables, writing frames and a self-assessment grid
Student-facing assessment criteria sheet so learners know exactly how their work will be marked
Full marking scheme for teachers, broken down document by document across content and presentation, with guidance notes

The scenario:
Students work as an Events Administrator for their local council, planning “Summerfest” — a community festival in the town park. Across three lessons they produce a complete pack of six business documents: a planning checklist, a formal booking confirmation email, a promotional festival poster, a website notice, a schedule of events and a stallholder information sheet. The task is assessed out of 40 marks.
Skills developed:
Document production and formatting, table creation, formal written communication, designing for impact and audience, organising information clearly, and proofreading. The structured scenario means every document has a clear purpose, helping students understand how administrative tasks fit together in a real workplace.
Curriculum alignment:
CFE Experiences and Outcomes: TCH 3-03a, TCH 3-04a, TCH 4-03a, TCH 4-04a. KS3 National Curriculum ICT: creating, manipulating and presenting information for a given audience and purpose. All files are fully editable.
