Explore irregular plurals with 32 colourful picture cards, adult guidance and four activity ideas for home, classroom or speech and language sessions.

This printable resource helps children explore the difference between one and more than one, including words that change, such as mouse/mice, and words that stay the same, such as sheep/sheep.

What’s included

  • 32 illustrated cards forming 16 singular and plural pairs
  • Clear written labels on each card
  • Adult guidance for supportive, low-pressure practice
  • Four activity ideas covering matching, sorting, memory games and sentence building

Word pairs included

Child/children, man/men, woman/women, mouse/mice, goose/geese, tooth/teeth, foot/feet, leaf/leaves, knife/knives, loaf/loaves, wolf/wolves, calf/calves, elf/elves, sheep/sheep, fish/fish and deer/deer.

How to use

Print and cut out the cards, then choose a few pairs to explore together. Match singular and plural pictures, sort them into “one and “more than one, or use the words in short sentences.

Children can take part through pointing, matching, signing, AAC or speech. The included guidance offers ways to adjust the activities and model language without pressure to repeat.

Useful for parents, teachers, teaching assistants and speech and language therapists working with individuals or small groups.

Format: Printable PDF. This is a digital download; no physical product will be sent.
