Celebrate International Day of Peace on 21 September with this thoughtful, ready-to-deliver whole-school assembly for primary schools.

This assembly explores what peace means in everyday school life, helping pupils understand that peace is about more than simply stopping arguments. Children explore kindness, listening, taking turns, inclusion, managing anger and asking for help when something is not right.

Pupils consider what a peaceful classroom and playground look like, including how to solve problems safely and fairly, handle mistakes and make sure nobody is left out. The assembly reinforces the message that small peaceful choices can make a big difference.

Through the story of Aisha and Ben, pupils see how a playground disagreement over a skipping rope can be resolved through listening, taking turns and choosing a fair solution.

The presentation includes a calm breathing activity, partner discussion, audience questions and a practical reflection encouraging pupils to choose one peaceful action they can put into practice at school.
