Hand Washing Coloring Pages teach a daily routine through 44 printable sheets. Children color the steps they are being asked to follow, which makes the lesson stick longer than a poster does.

Most of the artwork puts hands at the center of the page, drawn large and clearly, with the soap and water around them.

What the Pages Show

A boy with tufted hair stands at a sink, eyes closed in a smile, rubbing his hands together under a running faucet while bubbles float past his shoulders. On another sheet two hands work up a lather, and the blob of foam between them has been given a small face of its own. A pump top soap dispenser appears with round eyes and a grin, tall enough to fill half the page.

Suds are drawn as scalloped clouds. One of them smiles. Water droplets fly off in short strokes above the hands, and bubbles of several sizes drift through the background, which gives quick finishers plenty of small circles to work on. The heading WASH YOUR HANDS sits in open outline letters with a sparkle on each side.

Educational Benefits
  • Health awareness builds as children see each stage of washing drawn out rather than described.
    • Sequencing can be practiced by asking students to put several colored sheets in order.
    • Fine motor control develops on the fingers and bubble outlines, which demand a steadier hand than the large shapes do.
    • Descriptive language grows during the lesson: lather, rinse, scrub, dry.
    • Independence in the bathroom routine follows once the steps feel familiar.
Where These Fit in the Day
  • A health unit on germs and personal care
    • The first week of school, when routines are being set
    • Nurse office visits and clinic waiting areas
    • Cold season reminders in winter months
    • Bathroom door displays once colored
    • Home learning packets for families
    • Preschool circle time paired with a hand washing song
