Students examine the Ridolfi, Throckmorton and Babington plots against Elizabeth and explain how much of a threat the Catholic plots were to Elizabeth. Students can then compare the plots against other Catholics threats to Elizabeth.

• Slide 2-3: Recap - Students complete a 5 sentence gap fill to recap the main Catholic plots Elizabeth faced. Suggested answers and answers given with challenge question included.
• Slide 4: Recap - Catholic threat timeline. Students should order the main Catholic threats correctly. Answers and dates given.
• Slide 5-6: Starter - Using the 6 clipart images provided, students think of what factors motivated the Catholic plotters by the 1570s and 80s. Background information/answers provided.
• Slide 7-9: Fact posters showing the key features of the three plots. These can be printed off and used by students to help them complete the table activity.
• Slide 10-11: Task 1 - Students complete a table detailing the causes, features and consequences of the Catholic plots. Challenge questions provided.
• Slide 12: Task 2 - What did the three plots all have in common? Answers provided.
• Slide 13: Task 3 - Great for revising all the Catholic threats to Elizabeth - students judge how much of a threat each Catholic threat against Elizabeth was. Printable resource.
• Slide 14: Follow up challenge task
• Slide 15-16: Learning Review - Students are given 10 statements. They need to decide which plot/s the statements link to. Answers provided.
