Students explore what care environments are and why they matter, learning that safe and appropriate care goes far beyond physical safety. They examine how settings, from hospitals to homes, must meet an individual’s PIES needs and how person‑centred practice ensures environments feel respectful, supportive and emotionally secure. They also investigate what makes care appropriate for different people, comparing how the same setting can suit one individual but be unsuitable for another. Building on this, students begin analysing real local services, identifying who each one supports and how environments are monitored, protected and adapted to keep people safe.
