The second lesson in the 2027 AQA HE on the Spanish Armada. This lesson focuses on the Spanish and English plans before the Armada began.
The lesson begins with a recap of the causes of the Armada, asking students to rank and discuss the significance of causes. Students then explore either the Spanish or English perspective and hypothesise potential plans. Students then explore the Spanish plans of attack, annotating strengths and weaknesses, moving to exploring English efforts to delay the Armada and explaining why these attempts would have been effective. Finally an interpretation plenary explores the role of Drake, utilising the 8-mark ‘convincing’ apporach.
