Learning objectives:

1. Recall that there are two types of reproduction (Grade 4) - information slides provided; Starter Task –identify a series of examples as being either sexual or asexual forms of reproduction

2. Compare the main differences between asexual and sexual reproduction (Grade 6) – Activity to complete table to compare sexual and asexual reproduction characteristics; option to watch video on sexual and asexual reproduction to help complete the table – alternative for differentiation where some students may need extra support

3. Explain how the type of reproduction affects variety in the offspring (Grade 8) – Think, Pair, Share task to turn to your partner to explain the difference task with a word bank to help lower ability pupils and extension/challenge question.

4. More illustrative slides provided with a series of further examples of sexual and asexual reproduction in plants and animals illustrated and used for discussion; Activity to work with a partner to list each example under the correct heading Sexual or Asexual

5. Plenary - Reproduction crossword differentiated – one version with a word bank plus clues, second version without word bank and just clues. Answers included.
