A Revision Booklet which is part of a unit designed to teach students how to engage with a range of written and visual texts. CIA 2026 topic: print media / the internet.

Part 1: comprehension. Questions to prompt recall of representations, ideas, opinions + related terms (values, attitudes and beliefs).

Part 2: Match the definitions. Words include: simile, acronym, adjective, alliteration, rhetorical question, call to action, rhyme, metaphor, symbol, inclusive language.

Part 3: Knowledge and understanding. Circle the Language Features and put a square around the text structures

Part 4: Explain how certain features position audiences e.g. dot points, sub headings.

Part 5: proofreading a small passage.

Part 6: Apply. Students are given a generic Q1 and Q2 prompt. Then a series of written and visual stimulus to use to answer these questions.

Context: A resource designed for use in a 12 Essential English classroom in Queensland, Australia as part of Unit 3 “Language the Influences.” I have a mixed ability class (including QCIA learners).
